Field Bottle M31 (Feldflasche Modell 1931) Late model variants

Until the end of the war the modell 31 was used , however late war models show differences and simplyfications

Below a late war (1944 dated) variation is shown

Below the different parts of the field bottle.

The cup , the bottle and the lid are made from red enamelled steel in stead of aluminium / bakelite,
while the cup is painted green.

Also the straps are now seperated, probably to save leather.

On the left the enamelled steel cup

The red paint also can be seen

Detail show which shows the maker code and date:

L & SL 44

Detail of the steel bottle which also shows the same maker code and date L & SL 44

Below another late war example is shown

It has brown leather straps and a green enamelled bottle

Unfortunately no maker marks or dates can be found on this example

Notice that the felt cover of this example has only 3 push buttons in stead of the normal 4 buttons.

Below another late war (1945) variant is shown

It has a different type of felt cover and a green enamelled bottle

There are no maker marks on the cover, but the bottle has a marking SMM45

Notice that the felt cover of this example also has only 3 push buttons in stead of the normal 4 buttons.

These buttons are unmarked.

Below another much sought late war variant is the so called "Schindlers canteen"

Although it is very unlikely these came out of the Schindler factory the name has been
given by collectors because of the blue enamelled parts.

Unfortunately the example below has no readable stamps, so no information can
be given by what maker this one has been made.

On the left the canteen with the cup removed

Detail shot of the enamelled cup

Here the enamelled flask itself is shown

As can be seen, the blue is a little bit darker.

Here a picture of the back of the Field Bottle

Also noticable is the pig skin leather which is used for the straps
